Generic Voveran SR ( Diclofenac )
Voveran (Diclofenac): Uses, Dosage, Safety and Interactions
Voveran contains diclofenac, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain and inflammation in conditions for which a clinician considers diclofenac appropriate. It reduces prostaglandin production, which can lessen pain, swelling, and stiffness, but it does not cure the underlying cause of arthritis or injury. Patients with a valid prescription may buy Voveran through a properly licensed pharmacy after a clinician has reviewed the diagnosis, medical history, and current medicines. Voveran price varies by strength, formulation, quantity, and pharmacy, but it must not prompt a patient to take extra tablets, use another person’s medicine, or extend treatment without advice.
Diclofenac can be prescribed for certain arthritis conditions and selected acute painful or inflammatory problems. The appropriate dose and duration depend on the condition, age, cardiovascular risk, kidney and liver function, gastrointestinal history, and other treatments. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest period consistent with the treatment plan. Pain that is severe, worsening, follows a significant injury, or occurs with fever, weakness, chest symptoms, or unexplained swelling needs medical assessment rather than repeated self-treatment.
Indications
Voveran may be prescribed for signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute musculoskeletal pain, inflammatory pain, or dysmenorrhea, depending on the local product authorization. It is not an antibiotic, muscle relaxant, or disease-modifying arthritis treatment. Do not assume that every backache, joint pain, gout flare, or menstrual symptom is appropriate for diclofenac; a clinician should rule out causes that need different treatment.
Dosage
Take Voveran exactly as prescribed with water. Taking it with food or milk may reduce stomach upset, although food can affect absorption for some formulations. Swallow tablets whole unless the approved product instructions state otherwise; do not crush or chew delayed-release or modified-release forms. Do not take more often than prescribed, and do not take another NSAID such as ibuprofen, naproxen, or aspirin for pain unless a clinician specifically approves the combination.
Diclofenac tablet strengths can vary by country and release type; 50 mg is a commonly supplied immediate- or delayed-release strength. Patients with a valid prescription can buy Voveran 50 mg when the clinician has selected that exact strength and formulation. Patients may buy Voveran only after the pharmacy confirms the prescription, release type, and directions. Voveran price should be compared only for the identical diclofenac formulation, because release characteristics and dosing schedules are not interchangeable.
If a scheduled dose is missed, take it when remembered unless it is nearly time for the next dose; do not double the dose. Do not use Voveran longer than prescribed. Contact the prescriber if pain persists, adverse effects occur, or the treatment seems ineffective. An overdose can cause serious stomach, kidney, nervous-system, or cardiovascular effects and requires urgent advice from emergency or poison-control services.
Safety Information
NSAIDs, including diclofenac, can increase the risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events such as heart attack or stroke, which can be fatal and may occur early in treatment. Voveran is contraindicated for pain in the setting of coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Tell the prescriber about heart disease, a prior heart attack or stroke, high blood pressure, heart failure, fluid retention, smoking, diabetes, high cholesterol, kidney disease, liver disease, asthma, nasal polyps, ulcers, gastrointestinal bleeding, or a previous reaction to aspirin or another NSAID.
Diclofenac can cause serious gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration, or perforation, sometimes without warning. Seek urgent care for black or bloody stools, vomiting blood or material that looks like coffee grounds, persistent severe stomach pain, chest pain, weakness on one side, slurred speech, sudden shortness of breath, swelling, or reduced urination. Stop the medicine and obtain urgent medical advice for rash, fever, facial swelling, blistering, peeling skin, or other signs of an allergic or severe skin reaction.
Diclofenac can harm a fetus during pregnancy. Avoid use from about 20 weeks of pregnancy unless a clinician determines it is necessary, and avoid it at about 30 weeks and later because of fetal risks. Discuss pregnancy, plans for pregnancy, and breastfeeding with the prescriber. Patients obtaining Voveran should use a pharmacy that checks the medication history and safety warnings. Voveran price is secondary to safe selection and monitoring.
Interactions
Taking diclofenac with other NSAIDs, aspirin, corticosteroids, anticoagulants, antiplatelet drugs, SSRIs, or SNRIs can increase bleeding or gastrointestinal risk. Lithium and digoxin concentrations may rise with diclofenac. ACE inhibitors, angiotensin-receptor blockers, diuretics, and other medicines affecting kidney blood flow can increase the risk of kidney injury or reduce blood-pressure control. Methotrexate and cyclosporine also warrant careful review.
Tell the prescriber and pharmacist about all prescription medicines, nonprescription pain products, vitamins, and herbal supplements. A valid prescription is required to buy Voveran, and the pharmacist should verify the dosage form before dispensing. Alcohol can increase gastrointestinal bleeding risk. Never combine Voveran with another diclofenac product or switch products without professional guidance.
